Book Review: This Girl

Book Review: This Girl by Colleen Hoover

Colleen Hoover’s New York Times bestselling Slammed series has brought countless readers to their knees with a whirlwind of love, passion, and heartache. Layken and Will’s love has managed to withstand the toughest of circumstances and the young lovers, now married, are beginning to feel safe and secure in their union. As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. Still, he can’t resist his wife’s pleas and so he begins to untangle his side of the story, revealing for the first time his most intimate feelings and thoughts, retelling both the good and bad moments, and sharing a few shocking confessions of his own from the time when they first met.

In This Girl, Will tells the story of their complicated relationship from his point of view. Their future rests on how well they deal with the past in this final installment of the beloved Slammed series.

My thoughts: This Girl. Wow.

Of course it’s a Colleen Hoover novel so it’s (as her term says) it is butterflying amazing! If you loved her first two novels of Slammed series surely you will also love this third book.

The side of Will Cooper that make you fall in love with Slammed all over again. Sure, it’s the same story of Slammed but I genuinely assure you it’s not a repeat. Colleen really made sure to bring up new revelations that you would truly see it not coming.

We all know that the story in Slammed slightly has not a smooth anecdote to it. It’s not all good and happy times for Will and Layken. All those struggles. Their pains from their lost in the past. Will’s priorities. The sickness of Lake’s mother. Their love story didn’t come out easy for them. But after reading from Will’s point of view, it makes me understand it thoroughly. That you will know it’s not been easy for him too. Some things he tried his best to resist the personal effects of Layken to him. How hard he controlled himself.

I know for a fact you will enjoy reading this and will get all teary eyed all over again (but in a good way) because of the lines. Epic lines! The epic, cheesy, breath-taking, oh so sweet, butterflying lines of Will Cooper to Layken. So, it’s up to you readers to choose a side. Are you a Team Layken or Team Will? Well for me. My choice is… Team Colleen Hoover!
