Book Review: Down to Business

Down to Business (Business #1) by J.C. Alexander: While everyone else heads off to college, small town girl, Autumn Malone, stays behind to help manage her family’s failing restaurant. Two years later, a scholarship at Adelphi University comes her way, and she can’t resist the chance to start a new life. The one thing that she isn’t planning on doing…is falling for irresistible Vinny Mazzola.

To outsiders, Hamptons born Vinny Mazzola has it all: good looks, money, and an esteemed reputation. While studying business at Adelphi, the last thing he expects to do is fall in love with awkward Autumn Malone who forces him to ask himself what is really important in life.

When the opportunity arises for Autumn to work at Vinny’s family-owned Italian restaurant, Mazzolas, it seems like a perfect way for her to get to know him better. That is until she meets his over protective mother and his conceited ex-girlfriend who both want nothing more than to get rid of her. Between frats, family, friends, and foes, when it comes down to business, will Vinny and Autumn have to sacrifice everything for a love they can’t live without?

Kath's thoughts: Well… Hmmm… I liked it but mostly I just liked it because of Vinny the Italian hottie (oohhh the rhymes! Vinny the Italian Hotty) anyways… Story flow was okay, I just didn’t like the decision making of the characters but some books are like that to capture our feeling right? But this time I dunno I didn’t feel a connection with Autumm, yeah I know that she has feelings for Vinny and likewise but I don’t think she should pursue their emotions especially if there’s this bitchy ex of Vinny's named Vivian! Argh!

Come on ladies! You got my back right? Like any ex-girlfriend that will still cling to your guy is really… really… annoying! So if ever I’m in Auti’s situation I’ll let Vinny choose between me and his ex-girlfriend and also, I know that there’s this family business that Vinny wants to handle on his own, but I don’t think he can do it all by himself. With his mother watching -- or more like controlling his every move! Urgh. Controlling mother plus a clingy ex-girlfriend what more could he asked for? And that’s the part where he met Autumm a refresher to his life!

I’m really shipping for the love story of Vinny and Autumm but like I’I've said decision wise making by the characters really annoys me! Also I didn’t see that part on the ending where I said “Whhhuuuttt?! What the hell! Nooo..” so… keeping this review simple and short I really need to read the 2nd book :) I really wish that book 2 is Vinny POV though so I’ll be able to understand his decisions.
