When Life Falls to Pieces, Answers Lie in the Space Between

Leni Drago can't make a smart decision on her own, according to her mother anyway--the few times she's tried resulted in disaster. When her uncle sends her on a dance tour in Italy to find her real self, she returns to an empty home and any evidence of his existence wiped out. Then things get even stranger, like the mysterious appearances of Jeric Winters--inked, pierced and a hit-'em-and-quit-'em type. He's one decision that should be easy for Leni. Or is he?

Jeric doesn't do girlfriends. Unless they're someone else's. He left the fighting cage and modeling for a reason, and girls who want more than a night of fun are distractions he doesn't need. Especially when they come with as much baggage as Leni carries. But he can't shake the gut feeling that he needs to know her. All of her.

To discover the truth behind their connection and their ties to a journal from 1989, they must face painful secrets from their pasts. And they must do so quickly because their own existences are falling to pieces.

Two love stories, one mystery and a paranormal twist that readers call "mind blowing." This first part of The Book of Phoenix takes you on a heart-wrenching ride as you discover the answers that lie in The Space Between.

Julie's thoughts: **I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.**

The Space Between is the first book of Kristie Cook’s NA paranormal trilogy, The Book of Phoenix. I’ve read most of her Soul Saver series, which I loved, so when I was asked to review The Space Between, I was very excited. I knew to expect a good story; I had no idea just how good it was going to be, though. This book grabbed me and wouldn’t let go. I haven’t had a lot of time to read lately, so it took me three days to finish, maybe about 6 hours total. Having to force myself to stop reading at 1 and 2AM the past two nights has been extremely frustrating! It was very tempting to call in sick – anxiety and sleep deprivation due to extreme suspense.

This is a well written and completely fascinating story with characters that I completely fell in love with. The characters are fully developed and grow throughout this first book. The connection between Jeric and Leni was intense. There were many scenes were the sexual tension made by toes tingle. It was perfection, in my opinion. This book, the romance of it and the suspense of it, had me on the edge of my seat, trying to enjoy every second and not plow through it just to get all of the answers I so desperately wanted.

I highly recommend this story to anyone who loves NA content and paranormal romance. Although this is the first book of the series, it doesn’t end with a cliffhanger. I guess you could consider this an insta-love, which I know some people don’t enjoy. But the characters have an “other-world” connection to each other, so it really isn’t an insta-love, if that makes since. Don’t let the idea of insta-love keep you from trying this one. I really do not think you will be disappointed. The second book is set to release on May 19th, with the third and final book to release soon afterwards, so no long wait for the conclusion. Yay!!
