Book Review: Up For Grabs

Up For Grabs by Heather Young-Nichols: When Flannery Tate left home for a college halfway across the country in Michigan, she'd only planned on getting an education. But when Cain Dorsey walked into her life, she had no choice but to fall for him. However, what’s a girl to do when her scholarship well runs dry? Return home? Get a job?

Flannery gets creative. She decides to sell the most precious and valuable thing she can - her virginity - to the highest bidder. When Cain discovers her plan, their world crumbles. Will they be able to move past her betrayal and find a way back to each other? Or, is this the beginning of the end? UP FOR GRABS is a story of love, heartbreak and truth.

Nicole's thoughts: I must say that this book shocked me. If I had been told the synopsis of this book ahead of time I may have shied away because it is a bit unusual. It is a very classic romance novel with some very contemporary conflict. Flannery is a very spunky and amusing character who I easily connected with and I was intrigued with Cain right off the bat. What blindsided me was the conflict itself. I don't want to give anything away, but the struggle selected for the story was surprisingly original. It was well written and well thought out. What could have easily been insulting was handled well and the thought process behind the challenge is relatable.

I would like to see a sequel because I am quite curious about who someone turned out to be!
