Book Review: Pierced

Pierced (Lucian & Lia #1) by Sydney Landon: Lucian Quinn is the wonder boy of the business world. At twenty-nine, he owns one of the hottest software companies in the world. Personally, his life has been filled with tragedy and loss. He has learned to use his hate to survive and even thrive professionally, but his demons are always there, lurking just out of sight.

Lia Adams is a college student who has suffered through years of abuse at home to get to where she is today. She has done whatever was necessary to survive, including working as an escort for Date Night to pay for her education. Her life changes forever the day that Lucian Quinn’s friend convinces him to hire an escort for an important business dinner.

Circumstances bring two people that should have never crossed paths together and in the days and weeks ahead, they grow close quickly, each seeing a kindred soul in the other. As ghosts from their past rise to haunt them, they cling to each other as their lives start to spiral out of control. Soon, they realize that they’re both damaged possibly beyond repair. Will their love be what saves or destroys them?

Lisa's thoughts: Lia has one year of college left. Even though it has been a financial struggle she has done it all herself and has made some good friends on the way. She meets Lucian while working as an escort.

From the first sentence I was hooked, by the middle of the first chapter I was laughing so hard I was coughing and my children were looking at me strangely.

This book ticks all the boxes for a good romance. Lia is a brave but damaged beautiful struggling young woman. Lucian is a soft gentle alpha male with secrets and baggage and of course money to throw around. The sex scenes are steamy, the dialog is funny and at times the story will have you holding your breath.

The only reason I gave this book four stars instead of five is because it is a cliff hanger and I hate having to wait until I know what happens to characters I have fallen in love with.

Nicole's thoughts: This book was thoroughly entertaining and very, very sexy. Lucian is the classic hot, but unattainable bad boy and Lia is the broken but determined young lass. The appeal and attraction were palpable almost instantly. I read the entire book in one sitting, it had me that hooked! The sex was hot but not trashy and the story was intelligent so it was stimulating in every facet. The underlying story give us the opportunity for a sequel and I cannot wait to read it! This, is a must read!
