Book Review: Ride Steady

Ride Steady (Chaos #3)
by Kristen Ashley

The ride of her life . . .
Once upon a time, Carissa Teodoro believed in happy endings. Money, marriage, motherhood: everything came easy---until she woke up to the ugly truth about her Prince Charming. Now a struggling, single mom and stranded by a flat tire, Carissa's pondering her mistakes when a vaguely familiar knight rides to her rescue on a ton of horsepower.

Climb on and hold tight . . .
In high school, Carson Steele was a bad boy loner who put Carissa on a pedestal where she stayed far beyond his reach. Today, he's the hard-bodied biker known only as Joker, and from the way Carissa's acting, it's clear she's falling fast. While catching her is irresistible, knowing what to do with her is a different story. A good girl like Carissa is the least likely fit with the Chaos Motorcycle Club. Too bad holding back is so damned hard. Now, as Joker's secrets are revealed and an outside threat endangers the club, Joker must decide whether to ride steady with Carissa---or ride away forever . . .

Teri Lyn's thoughts: **Ride Steady generously provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.**

My very good friend, Irene, once said Kristen Ashley books are like chicken soup - good for the soul. She nailed it with that feeling because it rings true for each and every KA book I read. That feeling of feeling good, smiling through a book, laughing at the utterly goofy hijinx of lovable characters and just really loving their story are all elements KA continually provides.

Ride Steady hails as book three in the Chaos series. Carson "Joker" Steele and Carissa Teodora will knock your Kristen Ashley-loving socks off. All the characters making up the Chaos MC return in Ride Steady while the two main characters find their way to a rock solid relationship. What a journey it was: typical Kristen Ashley fluffy goodness. Her MC characters always find a fun way into my reading heart.

We first meet Carson Steele as a boy living in a house of abuse and neglect. A boy who finds solace watching the comradery he sees from the Chaos MC run by Kane “Tack” Allen. A boy who’s in love with golden girl Carissa Teodoro in his high school but feels he could have never her because there’s darkness swarming inside him.
Carson and Carissa shared some smiles and idle remarks to one another in high school both feeling something but too young to act on the sparks. It isn’t until much later when Carissa finds herself stranded on the side of the road when a hero on a Harley comes to her rescue. Carson Steele, now Chaos MC member “Joker”,and Carissa Teodoro immediately feel the connection they once felt to each other even though Carissa doesn’t recognize Joker as Carson.

As their story progresses many lovely, heartfelt moments pass as Joker tries to do what he feels best Carissa and she tries to pounce him. There’s hilarity and the usual antics from the women in KA books while heroes smile their pretty smiles and laugh at how funny each of the women are. Carissa Teodoro having waded her own fair share of crap in her life goes after what she wants full stop. And she wants Joker, between homemade pies, and cheap cute shoes we see her breaking down his walls. This was a fabulous Kristen Ashley heroine. Everything about her was easy to love. And Carson Steele made it high on my list of favorite KA heroes. He’s patient and kind and WISE beyond his years. He’s content and so happy in his contentment. He knows what he needs, when he get sit, he hold onto it and knows that he came out the other side of his horrible start to life in a good, clean way.

There’s a lot to love in Ride Steady. There’s so much goodness and fun in the Chaos MC. Kristen Ashley reminds me to laugh. She always highlights the face of her hero’s laughs because it’s something we should all do in our relationships. Laugh together. This is not dark and tortured MC, if you looking for gritty and dark this definitely isn’t for you. It’s a band of brothers who believe in goodness and family, they keep on the straight side of the law but protect what and who they believe in. They’re a group of protective bad ass bikers who are one big happy badass family. But the emphasis on an MC club life just isn’t the normal gritty MC. If you like Kristen Ashley you’ll enjoy. If you’re looking to enjoy a MC story, this isn’t where to find the grit. I recommend Ride Steady if you’re a fan of Kristen Ashley who’s read the others in the series. It could be read as standalone but you’d miss the fun of the rest of case of characters leading up Joker and Carissa.
